Attitude or the orientation control of launch vehicle is required to place the payload in orbit in the required direction. The current attitude and angular rate measurements are required for ensuring the proper orientation of launch vehicle. A control algorithm using LQR is implemented in order to meet the tracking error specification that is to keep the tracking error within a degree. Then compensators using notch filters are designed to meet the robustness specifications. The placement of poles to required location can be achieved using the optimization algorithm of LQR. But high order of system causes difficulty in choosing desired pole location. An output feedback pole placement technique is implemented to place the poles of inherently unstable plant model to desired location. And the simulation results proved the output feedback pole placement to be an effective method.
