Abstract
The study of this paper is to find the behavior of Steel fiber reinforced concrete short columns under concentric loading. An experimental Investigation was conducted, where nine columns has been tested under concentric loading with varying fiber content - three contained no fiber , three contained 1% of steel fiber throughout the cross section and while remaining three columns contained 2% of steel fibers throughout the cross section . The result conforms that the mechanical and engineering properties of the concrete like ductility, toughness, strain at peak load has been improved by the use steel fibers and it also enhances the cover behavior. It also conforms that , as the percentage of fiber increases columns has more dispersed crack pattern with development of many secondary cracks develops in the columns in compared to the plain concrete columns. It was found that the addition of the steel fibers increased the load at which Cracks and cover spalling occurs.
