Abstract
Water is an important resource for many industrial processes as well as products. The increase in population as well as industrialization has put a tremendous pressure on the limited supply of water that is available on this planet. Many of the industries reuse the wastewater by treating it with different chemicals or by carrying out some physical processes on the wastewater in order to reuse it and minimize the amount of water that is eventually wasted. One such industry that produces huge volumes of wastewater is the distillery industry. The distillery industry produces huge amounts of wastewater and it is necessary to treat this water before it can be allowed to discharge into a river or anywhere outside the industry. Various types of methods are available for the treatment of distillery wastewater. In this study, electrocoagulation has been used as a method to treat the wastewater generated by the distillery industry. Various experiments have been conducted to test whether electrocoagulation can be used to remove certain impurities from the wastewater generated by the distillery industry.
