Abstract
The WSNs (Wireless Sensor Networks) is one of the developing and constantly increasing field in the wireless communication world.Development of multi-function, low cost and low-power sensors are major challenges in Wireless Sensor Networks. In WSNs, large number of sensor node senses the environment and sends data to the sink by a wireless channel. It is obvious that sensors have small amount of power source in form of small battery which must not be wasted because it is practically impossible to recharge the battery or replace the battery. Many algorithm and protocols have been proposed to overcome the energy consumption problem in the sensor networks. This paper carries out the survey of different techniques to reduce the energy consumption in Wireless Sensor Networks. And also, how the techniques effect the network performance by comparing the performance metrics.
