Abstract
According to a study by the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA), lane change maneuvers accounted for 9% of vehicle collisions in the United States in 2007. In 2009, a study carried out by the same organization noted that, “The lane-change task requires drivers to divide their attention between monitoring the forward roadway, their surroundings, steering the vehicle, regulating the vehicle’s speed, and using the turn signal.” Automatic recognition of car in video done by MATLAB image processing, if vehicle is coming or turning back side meaning it sends a data to microcontroller through RS232. Then the Median filtering method is used to remove noise from the input images. As the region based operation the Morphological Gradient is used for edges enhancement process. Then the data send through the RS232 cable connected to the PIC16F877A Microcontroller. It will check the details based on the input from PC it will display the details about the vehicles turn detected or not like this on LCD and if vehicle is detected means buzzer sound alert for driver for safety
