Abstract
Software testing is an inevitable activity in software development. It is a critical determinant of software quality and consumes approximately 50% of software development costs. Test case generation is a vital component of software testing and greatly influences the efficiency and effectiveness of any software test hence; it has been extensively studied and is regarded as an important subject area in software testing. Any guarantee of high software quality requires maximum test adequacy coverage using test cases during software testing. This paper presents a comparative study of the methods used for the automatic generation of test cases during software testing and explores the limitations of each method.
