UGC-NAAC Green Audit: An exercise to report environmental activities implemented in academic institutions

  • Abstract:
  • For the assessment and accreditation UGC-NAAC uses a marking system consist seven different criteria/weightage and 34 indicators. From these criteria 1 to 7 numbers, the 4th 6th and 7th criteria i.e. Infrastructure and Learning Resources, Governance Leadership and Management, Institutional Values and Best Practices respectively are useful with about 18% of weightage. As per the UGC 96th meeting self-study report such as green audit, quality audit, energy audit and environment audit are mandatory part for this assessment. The type of each audit, its measurement practices, guidelines, are different and there are varied mechanism from which it can be conducted. For institutions, academicians and decision makers these kind of activities are new and they lack practical knowledge on such audit methods. The current article is envisaged to provide essential awareness and understanding to comply with audit procedure and its linkage to emission reduction as discussed in conclusion section.
