  • Conflict is an inherent part of organizational existence, especially in knowledge-dense organizations such as higher education. Academic libraries are part of a dynamic environment of technological change, changing user needs, resource limitations, organizational changes, multidisciplinary cooperation, and other professional partnerships. Librarians, therefore, are expected to do more than manage information resources and services. They must handle interpersonal connections, institutional expectations, professional identities, and organizational tensions. Conflict management has become an important factor in library administration and professional performance. The major challenges and potential solutions associated with conflict management among library professionals in higher education, with particular conceptual relevance to management college libraries. Drawing upon organizational conflict theory, human relations theory, systems theory, emotional intelligence theory, and contemporary conflict management models, the paper develops an integrated conceptual framework for understanding conflict in academic library environments. The discussion focuses on the nature and sources of workplace conflict, including communication barriers, role ambiguity, workload distribution, resource limitations, technological change, administrative structures, professional recognition, interpersonal differences, and organizational culture.
