In this work we have analyzed the effect heat treatment on properties and microstructure of steel specimen under various heat treatment processes. The two specimen of low alloy steel similar were selected. After then specimens were subjected to heat treatment in electric muffle furnace. Heat treatment temperature, soaking time and cooling rate were selected as per mechanism of annealing & normalize and phase diagram of specimen material. After heat treatment two specimens was tested for mechanical properties and microstructure examination before and after heat treatment. Two processes annealing and normalizing compared with respect to their effect on properties of specimen. Analysis shows that heat treatment have makeable` effect on mechanical properties of alloy. It is observed that annealing reduces hardness, which favours better machining and normalizing results in increase in hardness, which leads to strength oriented material fabrication. Microstructure examination supports mechanical observations.
