  • Abstract:
  • Kazuo Ishiguro, a Nobel laureate in literature, often delves into the subtle yet profound effects of war on individuals and societies. His characters frequently grapple with the lingering trauma, guilt, and displacement caused by war, even when the conflict itself remains in the background. This paper examines how Ishiguro portrays the psychological and emotional scars of war in his novels, focusing on A Pale View of Hills (1982), An Artist of the Floating World (1986), and The Remains of the Day (1989). Through close textual analysis, the study highlights how war disrupts personal identities, relationships, and moral frameworks, leaving characters to navigate a fractured sense of self and purpose.
