  • Abstract:
  • Modern Hindi poetry has played a transformative role in articulating women’s experiences, aspirations, identities, and struggles within the broader landscape of Indian literary and cultural discourse. The emergence of feminine consciousness has significantly enriched Hindi literature by bringing women’s voices, perspectives, and lived realities to the center of poetic expression. Moving beyond conventional representations that confined women within predetermined social roles, modern Hindi poets have foregrounded individuality, emotional autonomy, agency, empowerment, and selfhood as essential dimensions of female existence. This study examines the manifestation of feminine consciousness in the poetry of Mahadevi Verma, Subhadra Kumari Chauhan, Anamika, and Kedarnath Singh. Through a critical and analytical approach, the research explores the representation of female identity, emotional subjectivity, social participation, resistance to patriarchal structures, and the quest for dignity, equality, and freedom. The study argues that feminine consciousness in modern Hindi poetry extends beyond gender-specific concerns and engages with broader questions of social justice, cultural transformation, ethical responsibility, and human empowerment. By foregrounding women’s voices and creative agency, modern Hindi poets have expanded the intellectual and aesthetic horizons of Indian literature and contributed significantly to contemporary feminist discourse.
