  • Abstract:
  • A systematic laboratory investigation was carried out to establish an appropriate mix proportion through preliminary trial batches. Silica fume was incorporated by replacing GGBS at replacement levels of 20%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 80%, and 100%, in addition to a reference mix without replacement. Consequently, seven geopol-ymer concrete mixtures were prepared for evaluation. Standard cube, cylinder, and prism specimens were cast and tested according to the relevant Indian Stand-ard specifications. The developed mixes were evaluated by determining their compressive strength, split tensile strength, flex-ural strength, modulus of elasticity, density, and car-bonation resistance. The primary objective of this in-vestigation was to examine the influence of silica fume replacement on the structural and durability perfor-mance of GGBS-based geopolymer concrete. Experi-mental observations revealed that higher replacement levels of silica fume generally produced a reduction in compressive, tensile, and flexural strengths compared with the control mix. Furthermore, an economic as-sessment was performed to compare material usage and estimate the cost implications associated with each mix composition.
