Mathematical Theories of Creativity In Contemporary Research - A Literature Review

  • The paper at hand presents a systematic analysis of theoretical backgrounds in articles about mathematical creativity over the period of 2007 – 2019. Due to the multifaceted concept of creativity, various keywords were used for the literature study. Those keywords were identified in a search in relevant literature and ten years of PME proceedings. The coding of the articles as well as the inductively created category system is presented. As a result, we see that most authors refer to a multitude of de-scriptions to examine creativity. With this approach we were able to shed light to the characteristics of conceptualizations of creativity which are discussed.
