Abstract
The carbon steel IS 2004 Gr45C8 has all suitable mechanical properties and is easy to use for any purpose. Heat Treatment is a very important process to maintain the mechanical properties of steel like hardness, tensile strength, toughness, and ductility. Normalizing is a very important process of heat treatment and that is achieved in this paper. The normalizing process is a combination of three steps: (1) Gradually heating of specimen to the desired temperature (2) soaking of specimen in the furnace at a defined temperature (3) Air cooling. Specimen size is according to ASTM A370. With the increase in soaking temperature strength of the material decreases.
