Abstract
We must have a proper outlook of what is the history of an Indian banking system and understand the basis of why banking reform was necessary and which reforms are vital Before we look into the performance of banking sector of India. In the present scenario, the demand of banking is anytime, anywhere banking, this requires innovative robust secure optimized and ready to meet the expectations of empowered and tech savvycustomers. The main focus of the study is on the performance of Indian banks. The data has been extracted from the various sources like research articles, publications from government of India, various bulletins of RBI and authenticated websites.
