The growing interest in biodegradable polymers and films as potential replacements for conventional plastics in various industrial applications has prompted extensive research into their synthesis and production methods. This review article provides a comprehensive overview of these methods, with a focus on their industrial applications. The synthesis methods covered include chemical synthesis, fermentation, and bio-based processes, with an emphasis on their respective advantages and limitations. Additionally, the article explores production techniques for biodegradable films, such as film casting and extrusion, and their effects on film properties. Industrial applications of biodegradable polymers and films, including in packaging, agriculture, and biomedical fields, are discussed in detail. Furthermore, the article addresses the challenges and prospects of biodegradable polymer production for industrial applications, underscoring the importance of sustainable and environmentally friendly alternatives to traditional plastics.
