  • IoT has played a vital role in transformation of various routine activities. India is an agricultural country and agriculture and its associated activities are the main livelihoods for 80% of rural India’s population. Therefore, agriculture is the core of India’s economy. It is the main source of livelihood for about the majority of the population of India, particularly in rural areas. Today, the Internet of Things is an integral part of our everyday lives. As per Statista, there will be more than 75 billion Internet of Things (IoT) connected devices in use by 2025 [1].It is essential to increase the productivity of agricultural and farming processes to improve yields and cost-effectiveness with new technology such as the Internet of Things (IoT). In particular, IoT can make agricultural and farming industry processes more efficient by reducing human intervention through automation. IoT help farmers in growing the crop with the help of wireless sensors with precision so we can also call it as precision farming. It Justifies that smart agriculture can give a good solution for today’s problem. This article will discuss recent IoT technologies, their current role in the agricultural sector, their potential value for future farmers and the challenges that IoT faces in implementation.
