  • Abstract:
  • Standing by the window and gazing at the path, a man’s dreamy eyes are always in pursuit of the moment of promised happiness. Even if waiting is prolonged for one’s entire life and even though it’s tiresome yet as long as one is tied to the string of hope, one cannot break off with the act of waiting. For the Dust Bowl migrants, hope came in the form of music. In the face of insurmountable challenges, music offered an emotional catharsis for Dust Bowl migrants. Through heartfelt folk songs and blues melodies, musicians expressed the collective pain and anguish of the displaced families, validating their struggles and providing an outlet for their emotions. It established a safe space for the migrants, raised their spirits and gave them hope for better times.
