  • Abstract:
  • This paper examines the ethical implications of greenwashing in the context of climate change financing, focusing on how deceptive corporate practices undermine sustainable development efforts. By analysing the intersection between greenwashing, environmental ethics, and the effectiveness of climate finance, this study explores how organisations misrepresent sustainability efforts, the impact on long-term climate solutions, and potential avenues for regulatory and policy interventions. Through a literature review of recent studies and the analysis of corporate sustainability reports, the paper seeks to identify critical gaps in corporate accountability and provide recommendations for ensuring that climate financing truly promotes environmentally ethical outcomes. The economic scenario is representative of certain ethical issues that justifies why the commitments within the Paris Agreement are not being met. The 2020 target of 100 billion dollars was achieved in 2022 and the goal of achieving 2 degree Celsius is far from being met. Thus, this paper provides an insight on how the desire for profits must be replaced by the societal duty of funding innovations to tackle climate change impacts.
