  • Abstract:
  • CKD is basically general term for all the heterogeneous disorders, that affect not only its kidney structure, but also its function along with variable clinical presentation which may be related either to their cause, severity or the rate of progression. Like other developing countries, Chronic kidney disease is Silent epidemic in india . Kidney injury has multiple causes, which in turn lead to the final common pathway of ESRD , which in turn finally leads to disease like hypertension, anemia, renal bone disease, nutritional impairment, neuropathy, impaired quality of life, and reduced life expectancy. CKD Patients going for Renal replacement therapy, which is an expensive one, thus puts a substantial burden on global health resources specially in a developing country like India, where only 3% to 5% of all patients with ESRD are able to get some form of renal replacement therapy Ayurveda categorises the entire range of kidney diseases, under the heading of “Mutravahasrota”. As per Ayurveda, Heart, Brain, and Vrikka (kidney) are the three Sadyo Pranahara Marma and are Agneya in nature. Due to Agneya and Sadyo Pranahara Marma by nature, any physical trauma/pathological diseases to any of these Marmas can result in its death. The diseases caused to these Marmas are Kashta Sadhya in nature. Vata, Pitta and Kapha, all the Tridoshas are involved in the pathology of this disease. Pitta is responsible for impaired Jatharagni, Kapha is responsible for the blockage of the Srotas and Vata is responsible for the degenerative changes of the kidney structure. As a result of unwholesome diet and regimen,Ama (Toxin)which is formed in the body gets accumulated among the Srotas and thus leads to Srotorodha, which is nothing other than the obstruction of the Srotas and thus plays a key factor in the pathology of Chronic Kidney Disease. Hence in this Research Paper, in order to reduce the burden of cost of Chronic Renal failure patients, who are in their earlier stages, Mutravirechaniya Mahakashaya along along with Aamlaki Swaras was given in the management of CKD Patients in order to evaluate their efficiency.
