        abstract = {Energy is very important for economic growth,social development of people and improving the general quality of life. The climatic changes are occurring all around the world due to increased carbon dioxide emissions, a major component of global warming and has raised among governments and people alike about global warming. Global warming states that the buildup of greenhouse gases (GHG),like CO2 in the earth’s atmosphere traps a sizeable amount of the sun’s radiation causing the earth to become warmer.Concerns over climate change,centered upon carbon dioxide emissions have thus reached a new level of certainty and a heightened sense of urgency is gripping not only governmental but company policies and strategies. These factors have brought alternate fuels under the scanner with increased focus on sustainable fuels made from renewable organic materials.The present investigation focusses on studies on Butanol,Biodiesel and Diesel blends for their applications as CI Engine fuels. The engine performance experiments were carried out and the results reveal marginal reduction in the thermal efficiency and exhaust temperature as compared to the diesel.Physical properties such as density, viscosity,net calorific value were determined as per ASTM standards.},
