Harmonic compensation in grid integrated distribution system using active power filter

  • Unique Paper ID: 153238
  • PageNo: 266-274
  • Abstract:
  • In this paper, a new control method is presented which enables equal sharing of linear and nonlinear loads in three-phase power converters connected in parallel, without communication between the converters. An active power filter(APF) is designed to compensate harmonics using different controllers. The total harmonic distortion is measured at source to check the harmonic level. The APF filter concept uses power electronic switching to generate harmonic components to cancel the harmonic components of the nonlinear loads. It means that in these devices, Direct Current (DC) is converted to form the harmonic currents out of phase of the load which is then injected into AC line, thereby preventing the harmonic currents flowing into the supply. PI and ANN techniques are compared and simulated using matlab simulink software.
