All of these use cases rely on one thing: participant or user identification and verification. This is referred to as "Know Your Customer" (KY-C). Before making any transactions, one of the most important things that develops confidence between the parties is user verification. In order to remain compliant with anti-money laundering (AML) rules and other data protection regulations, many financial institutions have implemented lengthy, expensive procedures.
