  • Abstract:
  • Steel concrete composite structures which are formed by combining steel and concrete elements, performs superior structural properties than that of individual members could achieve. This technology is efficiently exploited in seismic engineering. Shear walls, the most appropriate lateral load resisting systems when utilising the structural properties of composite technology can result in excellent seismic resistant structures. Different types of composite shear walls such as double skin composite shear wall, steel plate encased type, steel plate encased with I section and shear walls with I sections are analysed in this research by response spectrum analysis and compared with RCC shear walls. The responses of the structures in terms of displacement, storey drift and storey stiffness are taken into consideration.
