Plant parts such as leaves, stems, fruit, seed, and bark have been reported for possessing antihyperglycemic, hypolipemiant, anti-inflammatory, cardioprotective, and antioxidant activity. It is used for the treatment of ulcers, asthma, dysentery, thirst, biliousness, sore throat, and bronchitis, another user is a good blood purifier. Screening of leaves, seeds, fruit, and stem bark shows the presence of cyanogenic glycosides, essential oil, tannins, flavonoids, alkaloids, phenols, anthocyanin, steroids, terpenoids, resin, saponin, and cardiac glycosides.
