  • An intelligent virtual assistant (IVA) or intelligent personal assistant (IPA) can be a software agent that performs tasks or services for a supported private command or question. Sometimes the term "chatbot" is used to refer generally or specifically to virtual assistants accessed through an online chat. In some cases, online chat programs are for entertainment purposes only. Some virtual assistants are ready to interpret human speech and respond through synthesized voices. Users can ask their assistant questions, control home automation devices and media playback by voice, and manage other basic tasks like email, to-do lists, and calendars with voice commands.
