  • Abstract:
  • Talking Fingers is a web-based application designed to translate spoken or typed text into Indian Sign Language (ISL) animations. The system addresses the communication gap between the deaf and hearing communities, supporting multilingual transcription for Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and English. Speech-to-text conversion is achieved using the Web Speech API, while text translation is processed using the googletrans Python library. Natural Language Processing (NLP) via NLTK enables efficient text preprocessing and mapping to ISL animations, dynamically displayed through a user-friendly web interface. The application is built on Django and demonstrates scalability and potential for real-world impact in fostering inclusivity.
