The objective is to reduce bus voltage to a safe level efficiently, mitigating risks associated with high-voltage powertrains in emergency scenarios. The proposed method divides the discharge process into two stages: rapid discharge and voltage regulation. To ensure smooth and effective discharge, an Extended State Observer (ESO) is incorporated to estimate and compensate power losses dynamically, reducing energy dissipation inefficiencies common in traditional resistor-based methods. Unlike conventional PI controllers, which require meticulous tuning and struggle with parameter variations, the FLC adapts to changing conditions in real-time, enhancing both performance and reliability. MATLAB/SIMULINK simulations validate the effectiveness of the proposed method by demonstrating significant improvements in discharge time, voltage stability, and adaptability to different system conditions. Experimental comparisons show that the FLC-based discharge system outperforms traditional approaches by offering a more robust and efficient discharge mechanism while ensuring compliance with stringent safety regulations. This research contributes to the advancement of EV safety by proposing a scalable, adaptive, and intelligent control strategy for PMSM drives. The findings open avenues for future research into real-time hardware implementation and optimization across diverse EV configurations.}, keywords = {Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine (PMSM), fuzzy logic controller, DC bus capacitor discharge, electric vehicle, extended state observer (ESO), MATLAB/SIMULINK.}, month = {February}, }
