  • Abstract:
  • Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) encompass a range of stressful or traumatic events that occur during childhood and have been linked to various negative outcomes in adulthood, including mental health issues and behavioural problems. However, the impact of ACEs on sexual attitudes among young adults remains less clear. This study investigates the relationship between ACEs and sexual attitudes, testing the null hypothesis that no significant relationship exists between these variables. The study involved 110 participants selected through snowball sampling method. They were assessed using the Adverse Childhood Experiences Questionnaire (ACE’s) and Sexual Attitude Scale Questionnaire (SAS). The study involved 110 young adults, with a balanced gender distribution (55% male, 45% female,) and varied educational backgrounds. Data were analysed using Spearman's rho correlation due to non-normal distributions of ACE and sexual attitude scores, as confirmed by Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk tests. The results showed that there is no significant correlation supporting the null hypothesis. Young adults are at a crucial stage of development so their childhood experiences will have an impact on their attitude and behaviours. And it is also important to understand the psychological and emotional well-being of an individual.
