  • India's rural-urban divide is a significant challenge to achieving equitable access to education. One often-overlooked factor contributing to this divide is language. This paper explores the role of language as a barrier to higher enrollment in rural India, examining the disparities in language proficiency, educational resources, and socio-economic factors. We argue that language plays a crucial role in perpetuating the rural-urban divide and that addressing language barriers is essential to promoting inclusive education.
