  • Abstract:
  • The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), also known as Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGS) provides a legal guarantee for one hundred days of employment in every financial year to adult members of any rural household willing to do public work-related unskilled manual work at the statutory minimum wage. This act was introduced with an aim of improving the purchasing power of the rural people, primarily semi or un-skilled work to people living below poverty line in rural India. It attempts to bridge the gap between the rich and poor in the country. Rozgar sewaks are recruited by the Ministry of Rural Development and allocated to panchayats, to work with panchayat heads to help people file applications for job cards and to register their demand for work. They also prepare work plans and allocate work to those who demand it. This app aims to streamline MGNREGA implementation by simplifying job demand registration, ensuring timely wage payments, and improving data-driven governance. This paper presents the design and development of a digital application aimed at enhancing the implementation and transparency of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
