  • Abstract:
  • The fine aggregate is the main ingredient used for concrete. The production of fine aggregate is going to be decrease. Therefore, the search of any other such material which can be used as an alternative to fine aggregate should lead to lowest possible environmental impact. The pond ash obtained by combustion of coal can be used as partial replacement for fine aggregate owing to its nature, which provides strength to fine aggregate. The huge quantity of pond ash being accumulated over the years is likely to pose a serious threat for its disposal and cause environmental problems. In this paper, an effort has been made to determine the effect on compressive strength of concrete by in different curing condition that is water curing, saturated wet curing, chemical compound curing by partial replacement of fine aggregate with 0%, 10%, 20% and 30% of pond ash for M25 grade of concrete. Test results indicate that compressive strength of concrete increases for the increase up to 20% of pond ash in concrete. It has also been obtained that with increase in pond ash more than 20% reduction the compressive strength of concrete. The optimum replacement of fine aggregate with pond ash is up to 20%.
