Innovative and Joyful Learning through English Phonics and Punjabi Muharni: A Bilingual Approach to Early Language

  • This research explores the comparative effectiveness of Jolly Phonics (for English) and Punjabi Muharni & Penti (for Gurmukhi) in early language acquisition among bilingual learners. The study highlights phoneme-grapheme correspondence, instructional strategies, and the benefits of joyful, culturally-rooted pedagogy. Integrative classroom methods are proposed to strengthen reading, pronunciation, and vocabulary in both languages for first-generation English learners in Punjab’s government schools.
