His poems deal with the subject of alienation, racism, condition of refugee, migration, mobility and the issues of war which are also the social and political aspects of American life in the post-World War II era. In his poems, the influence of modern writers like Eliot, Pound and Auden are visible and using these influences he conveys the condition of America in his poems.
