  • Abstract:
  • Traditional medicinal knowledge has long recognized Azadirachta indica for its potent antidiabetic activity. Multiple scientific attempts have been made to evaluate its efficacy using different pharmacological tools. The present study aimed to assess the neuropharmacological effect of ethyl acetate extract of Azadirachta indica leaves on experimentally induced diabetic neuropathy in rats. Oral administration of the extract at doses of 50, 100, and 200 mg/kg/day for 14 days resulted in significant improvement in diabetes-related neuropathic symptoms. Behavioral analyses demonstrated that treated animals exhibited a notable reduction in immobility time during the Tail Suspension Test and Forced Swim Test when compared with diabetic controls, indicating improved neurological and antidepressant-like responses. These results support the potential role of Azadirachta indica leaf extract as a therapeutic agent for mitigating neuropathic complications associated with diabetes.
