  • Abstract:
  • Terminalia arjuna is a large tree that grows near rivers and streams in India. It has been used in traditional Indian medicine for many years. Different parts of the tree, such as the bark, leaves, and fruits, are used to treat illnesses, but the bark is the most important part for medicine. This plant is especially known for keeping the heart healthy. It is commonly used to help treat heart problems like chest pain (angina), high blood pressure, heart failure, and blocked arteries. Besides heart health, Terminalia arjuna also helps in healing wounds and has properties that fight bacteria, reduce inflammation, protect cells from damage, and improve breathing problems like asthma. It may also help protect DNA, reduce acne, and lower the risk of cancer. These health benefits come from the natural chemicals found in the plant, such as flavonoids, tannins, glycosides, and triterpenoids, along with minerals like calcium, magnesium, and zinc. Because it works well and usually has very few side effects, Terminalia arjuna is still widely used in both traditional and modern medicine.
