        abstract = {Distance education has become an essential mode of learning in contemporary education systems, particularly for learners who are unable to access conventional classroom education. Media plays a significant role in ensuring effective teaching–learning processes in distance education. This systematic review analyzes the role and effectiveness of various media used by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) for distance education. The review follows standard systematic review procedures and examines research studies, reports, and official publications related to media use in IGNOU from 2000 to 2025. The findings reveal that IGNOU uses a combination of print, audio, video, broadcast, and digital media to enhance learner engagement and academic achievement. Despite the effectiveness of media integration, challenges such as limited technological access, digital illiteracy, and infrastructural constraints remain. The study concludes that continuous innovation and inclusive media strategies are necessary to strengthen the quality of distance education.},
