  • Abstract:
  • Gondia, known as the "Rice City," is primarily an agrarian economy with over 80% of its population residing in rural areas. Recently, consumption patterns have shifted due to the emergence of organized shopping complexes in urban centers like Gondia City and Tirora. This paper examines how these modern retail hubs affect the rural hinterland, focusing on employment, consumption behavior, and the survival of traditional village markets.
