abstract = {Oil pollution has become one of the most pressing environmental challenges, especially in aquatic ecosystems. The need for sustainable and eco-friendly solutions has led researchers to explore natural alternatives to synthetic materials. Among these, banana stem fibre has gained attention due to its abundance, low cost, and biodegradable nature. This review focuses on the development of cellulosic sheets derived from banana stems and their effectiveness in oil absorption applications. Banana fibre, which is often discarded as agricultural waste, possesses unique structural and chemical properties that make it suitable for adsorption. Its high cellulose content, porous structure, and ability to be modified chemically enhance its performance as an oil-absorbing material. By converting this waste into useful products, both environmental and economic benefits can be achieved. This paper discusses the extraction of cellulose, fabrication of sheets, modification techniques, adsorption mechanisms, and real-world applications. It also highlights the challenges and future research opportunities in this field. Overall, banana stem-based cellulosic sheets offer a promising and sustainable solution for oil spill remediation and wastewater treatment.},
