abstract = {The New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is one of the major reform efforts that will change Indian higher education in terms of flexibility, multidisciplinary education, skill building, holistic education, and student-centered pedagogy. Simultaneously, Outcome-Based Learning (OBL) has become a significant pedagogical method that is characterized by a strong focus on well-stated learning outcomes, competencies progression, curriculum coordination, and student performance quantification. This paper reviews the conceptual compatibility of NEP 2020 and OBL with the Indian higher education through secondary-data-based research design. The research is analytical and descriptive in character and is based on policy documents, academic literature, regulatory frameworks, and scholarly discussions as the sources of data. The study performed thematic and comparative conceptual analysis and arrives at the conclusion that both NEP 2020 and OBL have close common grounds, in their application to learner-centered education, curriculum flexibility, experiential learning, continuous assessment, employability, and quality improvement. The paper also states that OBL would make a good implementation framework to bridge the gap between the big picture of NEP 2020 and the institutional and pedagogical practices. Nonetheless, effective incorporation of the two necessitates redesigning the curriculum, readiness of faculty, assessment reformation, and institutional readiness. It is concluded that the alignment between NEP 2020 and OBL can go a long way to enhance the relevance, quality, and effectiveness of higher education in India.},
