abstract = {The rising number of road accidents involving twowheelers has created an urgent need for intelligent safety solutions beyond conventional protective gear. Smart bike helmets integrate sensing technologies, wireless communication, and embedded control systems to enhance rider safety, situational awareness, and accident response. This review presents a comprehensive overview of current advancements in smart helmet design, emphasizing key features such as impact detection, alcohol sensing, fall recognition, biometric monitoring, GPS-based navigation, and vehicle-to-vehicle connectivity. The paper also analyzes implementation of Internet of Things (IoT) platforms for realtime tracking and emergency alerts, along with powerefficient microcontroller architectures. Existing research trends, commercial prototypes, material considerations, and design challenges are examined to identify technological gaps and opportunities for improvement. The study highlights issues related to user comfort, reliability, data security, and integration with Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). Future directions focus on AI-driven predictive safety models, energy-harvesting systems, and standards for universal interoperability. Overall, smart bike helmets demonstrate significant potential to reduce fatalities, encourage disciplined riding behavior, and foster a safer transportation ecosystem for motorcyclists.},
