abstract = {Artemisia pallens Wall. ex-DC., commonly referred to as Davana, is an aromatic medicinal herb traditionally used for the treatment of various ailments. This study examined the pharmacognostic characteristics, physicochemical parameters, phytochemical profile, and biological activities of Artemisia pallens leaf extracts. Macroscopic and microscopic analyses were conducted to establish the diagnostic features of the plant material. Physicochemical parameters, including ash content, extractive values, and loss upon drying, were assessed to evaluate the quality of the crude drug. Preliminary phytochemical screening of methanolic and aqueous leaf extracts identified bioactive constituents, such as alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenoids, phenolic compounds, glycosides, and tannins. Total phenolic content (TPC) and total flavonoid content (TFC) were quantified using spectrophotometric methods. Antioxidant potential was evaluated using the DPPH radical scavenging assay, while anti-inflammatory activity was assessed using the protein denaturation inhibition method. The results indicated that Artemisia pallens extracts exhibit significant antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities, attributed to phenolic and flavonoid compounds. These findings corroborate the traditional medicinal use of this plant and underscore its potential as a source of therapeutic bioactive compounds. Further studies on the isolation and characterization of the active constituents may provide insights into its pharmacological applications.},
