  • Abstract:
  • Retirement planning has become increasingly significant in India due to rising life expectancy, inflation, and limited formal social security systems. This study examines the current status of retirement preparedness among Indian individuals, identifies key challenges, and evaluates available financial instruments. The research is based on secondary data collected from government reports, institutional publications, and academic literature. The findings indicate a substantial gap between retirement needs and actual savings behavior, largely influenced by low financial literacy, behavioral biases, and inadequate pension coverage. The study suggests policy reforms and strategic financial planning practices to enhance retirement readiness in India.
