  • Abstract:
  • This research paper aims to evaluate the role of Unified Payments Interface (UPI) in driving the rapid growth of digital payments in India, with a specific focus on youth in Pune aged 20-25. Through primary data collected from 108 respondents and secondary data gathered from government reports, academic journals, and news articles, the study examines usage patterns, preferences, and challenges associated with UPI adoption. Research reveals that UPI has become the dominant payment mode, with 91.7% of respondents using it daily or multiple times daily, primarily driven by convenience (76.9%). Google Pay emerges as the most preferred application (70.4%), while transaction failures (63.9%) remain the primary challenge. The study provides recommendations for policymakers, financial educators, and fintech firms based on research findings.
