abstract = {Zinc oxide (ZnO) Nanoparticles (NPs) are potentially useful in various fields The biological method (green synthesis) has recently been adopted as an expedient alternative to generate ZnO NPs with higher stability, as this approach is economical, eco-friendly and non-toxic and it includes plant extracts, microorganisms, etc. In this work, an aqueous extract of citrus limetta peel was used as the biological reduction agent for the synthesis of ZnO NPs from zinc sulphate. The nanoparticles were characterized by various techniques like TEM, FTIR, XRD and UV-Visible spectroscopy. Its anti-microbial activity was tested against bacterial species Escherichia coli, pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus and fungal species candia-auris, anaerobic fungi. The antibacterial activity of ZnO NPs was found to be significantly effective against Staphylococcus aureus. These NPs are employed as matrixes in Edible coatings and films (ECF), which are then applied to fruits to extend shelf life and improve storage quality. This paper presents an efficient use of ZnO NPs as a bio coating material with a wide range of potential applications, especially in the biomedical field.},
