abstract = {Internet usage has been increasing at an alarming rate. This has affected the lifestyle of young adults. While it has been proved that excessive use of the internet results in internet addiction, it has negative consequences on mental health. This study aims at understanding the relationship between internet addiction and psychological well-being among young adults in Delhi. For the present study, a quantitative research design has been used. For the present study, 201 young adults between the ages of 18-30 years were chosen as participants. Internet addiction has been measured by using the Internet Addiction Test developed by Young (1998). Psychological well-being has been measured by using the General Health Questionnaire-12 developed by Goldberg (1972). Descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation were used to analyze the data. It has been found that young adults experience moderate to high levels of internet addiction. It has been found that young adults experience moderate levels of psychological distress. It has been found that there is a significant positive correlation between internet addiction and psychological distress. It has been found that r = .598, p < .01. This shows that there is a positive relationship between internet addiction and psychological distress. It has been found that 35.8% of the variance in psychological well-being is accounted for by internet addiction. It has been found that excessive use of the internet has negative consequences on mental health.},
