IoT-Enabled Intelligent Vehicle Black Box for Real-Time Accident Detection and Cloud-Based Data Analytics

  • Road accidents kill a large number of people every year, with rural areas hit hardest because emergency services take longer to arrive. This paper describes an IoT-based vehicle black box that uses accelerometers, gyroscopes, and GPS to detect crashes as they happen. When the system detects a collision or abnormal vehicle movement, it automatically sends an alert to emergency services and a cloud server with the time, date, and location. Testing showed the system detects accidents quickly and accurately enough for real-world deployment.
