        abstract = {For any democratic governance, elections are fundamental. In our country India, presently the entire electoral process still involve significant environmental costs. Through this paper an attempt has been made to examine the concept of “sustainable elections” in India. Sustainability has been judged based on the ecological footprint of electoral processes that include campaign materials, transportation, energy use, and digital infrastructure. Through this paper, an evaluation of the initiatives by the Election Commission of India to promote eco-friendly practices has also been done and analysis of challenges of political incentives and enforcement gaps also be made. The study logically judges the necessity of integrating sustainability into electoral systems for the alignment of democratic practices with environmental goals.},
