abstract = {Recent advances in computer vision have accelerated the development of natural and touch-free human-computer interaction systems. This paper proposes a real-time gesture-controlled system that enables users to control computer operations through hand gestures captured using conventional webcam. The system is designed to complement traditional input devices by providing an intuitive and contactless interaction mechanism, particularly useful in assistive and hygienic environments.
The proposed system processes live video input to detect and track hand movements, and recognise predefined gestures in real time. These gestures are then mapped to system actions such as cursor movement. clicking, scrolling, and basic interface control. The implementation uses Python along with OpenCV and MediaPipe to achieve accurate hand tracking and low- latency performance. Experimental evaluation shows that the system responds smoothly and reliably under different lighting conditions and background conditions while maintaining minimal computational overhead.
Overall, the proposed approach provides a practical, cost-effective, and user-friendly solution for touch-less interaction, with potential applications in assistive technologies, smart interfaces, and interactive systems.},
