A Review on Clinical Applications of Ultra Low Dose CT Scan

  • Computed Tomography contributes a substantial portion of radiation cumulative effective doses within diagnostic radiology, significantly effecting the younger population who have to undergo repeated investigations for various chronic diseases. Ultralow dose CT scan protocols are emerging as one of the various strategies to manage the radiation doses during medical imaging in various clinical settings. By reducing long-term risks, enabling frequent follow-ups with minimal radiation, and facilitating rapid diagnosis in emergency situations, ULDCT optimizes diagnostic imaging while safeguarding patient safety. Additionally, its role in supporting research on radiation dose reduction strategies underscores its importance in advancing both clinical practice and patient care.
